I was trying to play through Fallout 3 but the game just cannot hold my interest. I just stole the Declaration of Independence and while wading through a billion robots was at least a bit challenging (but only because I try not to spam stimpacks too much), it wasn't much fun. Combat is just bleh.

The only one I've played so far is 3. Interestingly enough, I believe it's also the first and only game I've played on Easy, though in my defense I had an average fps of 20.
I've got both the first one (grabbed it when it was free on GOG) and NV with some DLC to play but I doubt I'll play either anytime soon. I'd have to figure out some proletariats for NV too.

I don't spam stimpacks. If I die it's because I did something wrong and I should try a different approach next.

Also I've taken the Gunslinger perk (+Accuracy with handguns/pistols in VATS) and can pull out either a Silenced .22, a Colt .357 Magnum, or a good old 9mm. Silenced is for when I can pull off stealth, Colt is for if there's lots of enemies that need to go down fast (tend to critical heads with it), and 9mm is for all other situations since I have around 500 bullets for it.

You don't even get it if you don't have Wild Wasteland. I guess it's like a Gremlins reference or something. The way I dealt with it: it got stuck in some kind of circular path between the dog house and the corner of the next house over, so I could just wait at the end of it's path and unload ammo on it and it wouldn't do shit. Otherwise I guess you could sneak by it to get the dogbowl.

By the way, here is a mod that everyone should always be using; the jsawyer mod (download link only).

Note that you need every official mod installed (including that shitty Courier's stash one) and you must be starting a new game (synergy with Ultimate Edition), but beyond those requirements it's really neat. Some of the big changes are quartering the player's starting health, and halving gained XP from anything. It really is a barrel of fun and adds some much needed difficulty as well as a ton of tweaks, fixes, and some of it just "extra development time". Here's all the changes I guess.

Oh if I remember from reading about the Wild Wasteland perk that thing does damage equivalent to the legendary deathclaw.

Also Jeanie May is a bitch and I'm glad Boone blew her head open. Found the Bill of Sale before meeting him but as soon as Manny said his wife went missing I knew I'd found a quest item.

What about agility and perception? If you don't have anything in agility, you're going to have a pretty hard time.

Agility is useful, but Perception is entirely pointless since you can get ED-E to spot your targets pretty early on.

Agility is for Guns and Sneak, Perception works for Energy Weapons and Lockpick (also explosives?), and Strength is for carry stuff and Melee Weapons. Since you said nothing about those skills, you're going to have a lot of trouble with combat.

I need a new stealth weapon. The silenced .22 isn't one-shotting enemies anymore and that lets them and all their friends come after me.
