What change to the loot system? Are they making it so someone who gets a piece of loot has a downrated chance to recieve more?
They're changing the way the LFR loot system works so that whoever gets the highest rolls automatically receives a piece of gear they need.
This will not apply to normal raids, though.
Not quite. The way it will work is that when a boss is downed, the game automatically determines who among the party won loot. Then, it randomly gives them an item appropriate to their spec off that boss's loot table. The key difference between this system and the current one is that your win affects no one else. If there's three warriors who the game decides won loot, they could each get the same sword off that boss. Or one could get a bracer. Or a trinket. It doesn't check to see if you have it already, it just randomly assigns a spec-appropriate piece on that table. If you've done dailies to get a Charm of Good Fortune, after the boss is down, if you did not get loot then you can spend a Charm to persuade the game to roll again to determine if you get a piece of loot. If you don't, no worries you'll still get gold, gems, flasks, or a small chance for an epic as consolation. If you do, then you also get a piece of loot, independent of everyone else.
This means the system is entirely autonomous. There is no more Need/Greed system, the game automatically decides who wins and what. Meaning all loot drama will vanish. Think on that for a second. Also it will apply to all dungeons/raids.
Also valor points will no longer buy armor/weapons. Instead they'll be used to boost ilevel of gear. Meaning raids will take precedence once more over valor farming operations.
It's looking like a beautiful system so far.
